Monday: rest
Tuesday: 8km pace run (14km with warm up/down)
Maybe it's obvious to those who know me really well, but I'm convinced I have an addiction to exercise! I was so cranky yesterday without any training, it's probably best I do some everyday. I was moody most of the day, unusually hungry, didn't sleep well and struggled to get up this morning.
On the up side, I felt fresh for today's session, which is one I've never done before. 2km @ HM pace, 1km @ Mar pace, three times without the final 1km. Surprisingly, I found the 1km intervals more difficult, as I was trying to slow my heart while going at a fair pace. The problem I was finding was that my pace would drift without me noticing. The idea I think is that I teach my body to recover at pace. Let's hope it works.
Feeling very positive about Sundays SMH Half Marathon - perhaps asking too much for a pb (71:55), but sub 73 is on the cards.
The no.1 athlete in the John Binfield training squad (in fact the only athlete) is going from strength to strength. We've edited Sally's plan to cram in a heap of training before she flies to Europe. She seems to have turned a corner in training and smashed today's 8km run at HM pace. I set 4:40/km but she called me to say she did it in 4:35/km. At that pace, if she had carried on for another 2km she would have smashed her 10km pb!!! Can't wait to see what she does at the next 10km race at North Head in just over two weeks.
