Slowly does it

16km in 83mins (5:16s)

My swim coach has a saying "fast swimmers can swim slow, slow swimmers can't". Swimming is more about technique than running (IMO). What he's saying is that if you can't maintain good technique when you swim slow, you have no chance when you swim fast.

I'm not sure that applies to running, but Tiger (who is far more studied in running than me) tells me that the Kenyans often do recovery runs at around 6min/km. Admittedly, the Kenyans often run 3 times a day, probably in excess of 200kms per week on average and do their quick running way faster than me. That said, if slow running is good enough for them, it's good enough for me. If I'm wrong, it was a pleasant 83mins catching up with Andy Heyden!

Heaps of trash talking between the English and Irish about the Half Marathon head 2 head. I'm staying out of it, I know how quick I'll run and like my Dad used to say, I will let my running do the talking.
