Paying the price

I am well aware of my limits and despite attempts to rectify the situation in my late teens and early twenties, I can not handle my booze. Forced to moderate my drinking (despite free drinks from Team Ireland) at the Slip Inn last, I didn't have much, but still felt rough running today!

A great night - met up with a load of the Hurts team and have to hand it to Enda, Kanser and Macca, they were gracious in defeat and great sports, buying drinks for the allotted 79mins. Then to the Striders awards dinner where I managed to snag an award for runner up 18-34 marathon behind Dave Criniti (I think the committee must have got that one wrong, but my name is already on the trophy so it seems a bit pointless to protest!) Interesting guest speaker Pat Farmer who's sanity I'm not entirely convinced of. This guy ran pole to pole in 10 months, which is 2 marathons back to back (85km) every day for 10 months. Makes that American guy who ran 50 marathons in 50 days look like soft! For a more detailed report of the night, you should check out Timmy's report!

It was also nice to see Sally after a week away with work!

So, no excuses in training today, I had to go out and suffer - worst session in some time! 2 x 6km with 3 mins recovery, 18km for the day including warm-up/down
