Easy 10km (48mins)
Lunch meeting delayed me meeting the Hurts crew at the usual start, so I met them down at the end of Kings Street Wharf and ran back to the Stone Gates with them. Glad I had some company for the first in about a week!
Did a few easy km's in the pool while Sally worked late.
Sunday
24km in 1:45 (last 30mins @ 3:55/km)
I rode the Bobbin Head Cycle Classic with Sally in the morning as I was a little worried about her on her own with so many other novice cyclists around.
The ride meant I had to run in the afternoon, which I don't mind doing. Thought I might struggle in the last 30mins, but felt really strong.
I was so excited to watch the live stream of IM Melbourne - some awesome performances. Obviously a really quick course. Standout for me was Charlie Low who went 9:00:31! Then most of the guys filled the 9:20-9:35 area: JC, Enda, Rich Palmer, Brendan Krone, Clyde. JC and Brendan took Kona slots (Charlie already had one from Asia Pac 70.3). Some other good performances - Mark Fiore (10:10 - 5min pb) going strong at 50 and Danielle just over 11. Sorry if I missed anyone, I'm doing this all form memory! The fact more guys didn't get Kona spots is testament to the strength of IM in Australia which brings me on to the race winner...
I spent 20mins screaming at my computer as Crowie got closer to the finish. With 7:57, he answered the final doubt I had in my mind. I can say now he is the greatest endurance triathlete of all time.
